Sidereus Nuncius, the title of a treatise on astronomy by Galileo Galilei, translates from Latin as, variously: Sidereal Messenger, Starry Messenger, or Sidereal Message. So what Cosmic Message has this music for us? There are no lyrics on this instrumental album to make this dispatch's purpose explicit.

The secret, trite as it may sound, is this: The Message is in the music. This is music that can be so much sonic wallpaper, unobtrusive, in the background - but rewards closer, more intent listening with emotional resonance. And that emotional resonance is the True Message sent by each piece presented here.

Brian Andrew Marek conceived this project with the goal of pursuing some directions hinted at (but never fully embraced) by The Vertigo Swirl. Not as overtly psychedelic as that band, the material on this album involves concepts of repetition, chaos, and minimalism... but never abandons the importance of a good melody, rendered here on a wide variety of instruments.

So have a listen. Play it loud. Play it soft. Play it while listening. Play it while ignoring it. Play it a central location as you move about your living space. There are many different ways of enjoying this album... just as there are many different ways to Receive the Message.
