What’s your master plan
Mr. Superman?
What’s your noble cause
In the land of Oz?
Ratch up the ratchet
Bury the hatchet
What’s your clever scheme
Little libertine?
Digging up old bones
Wrecking up my home
You may be dirty
But you’re unworthy
reversible/elbisrever was never meant to be much of anything.
The recordings that make up this album were recorded by BaM & Myk around 2014, and all but one were put together as interstitial music for a show we did at the Stage at KDHX during a brief period when we had a rhythm section and a harmony vocalist. There was not a lot of support within the band for the linking concept, with the result that we only ended up using 10-15 second clips of 3 tracks. The one track unrelated to that project was the instrumental backing for an extended song titled "Master Plan".
In 2018, we noticed the niche market for new cassettes and thought it would be fun to put out a tape of our own. Since we didn't want to throw away our latest and greatest on what we essentially treated as a novelty project, we turned it into a "clear the vaults" exercise, and the 2014 batch of recordings seemed like a rich vein for that sort of thing. We didn't put in a whole lot of effort - we used 4 year old rough mixes rather than remixing and left "Master Plan" instrumental, bequeathing it the title "Decussation Pyramid Power".
But, with almost predictable irony, the album that we spent so little time assembling turned out to be more popular than we had expected, to the point where it seemed prudent to release it in some more popular formats. With that prospect in mind, it was clearly time to go back and give reversible/elbisrever the TLC it never got before. It was re-mixed, re-edited, re-crossfaded, and re-split in a way that does greater justice to the source material. Vocals had finally been added to "Master Plan" during the Heartstar sessions. The only brand new additions were of percussion.
We fervently hope we've improved upon reversible/elbisrever without losing anything essential. Enjoy.

Dan O'Connell is an old friend and long time collaborator, but before I'd even met "Danimal", he was recording some parody, novelty and good ol' pop songs all on his lonesome. Rubberstamp Records
