Woke up on that misty morning
Wondering what I'd have to face
A savior lent a word of praise
And I fled to my inner space
Masses of humanity
Were gathered in the village square
Smiling faces stared at me
Patient urgings filled the air

My audience was veiled in black
The tension was unbearable
I hastily recited prose
And muttered ancient parables
But in moments of reflection
This great congregation wept
For the world was governed by
The foolish, ruthless, and inept

Indecision rules the land
What is right and what is wrong
Many faiths can contradict
And our devout can't get along
But complaints alone do nothing
To improve our bitter lives
We shall make our voice be heard
Should everybody toil and strive

Pleading with our mighty lords
And praying to our pagan gods
Rob the rich and feed the poor
For it shall serve the common cause
But our pain however was ignored
We soon went separate ways
In our absence nothing more was said
