Raining Serotonin in Quarantineland

Burnt Reynolds I don't think I can overstate what a delight this was to be my first new release to listen to in 2022.

Musically it reminds me of the Flaming Lips, Beatles, Dan Deacon, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Syd Barret era Pink Floyd. From start to finish it was a blast and you never really know where he's going to take you.

This release is going to stay with me all 2022 and it's going to make it to my favourites for the year. It's just one of those feelings. Favorite track: Mars Attracts!.

my mind is running in loops my mind is running in loops snippets of song in the shower things I wish I’d never said my mind is running in loops my mind is running in loops dialogue clutters my slumber alternate timelines appear be what you’ve got to be you’ve got my sympathy we’re not so different, my friend I have my reveries but they’re forever eluding the sweep of my pen now the world’s running in loops now the world’s running in loops what day’s today, I can’t tell you which repetition is this?

It's no ordinary ride when you’re gliding down the silver skyway cosmic breezes in your hair everywhere you take the silver skyway traveling here to there and back you could crack up on the silver skyway though it comes at quite a cost you’d be lost without the silver skyway And it kind of feels strange the first time you make the change the first time they disarrange your body You can move at quite a clip when you’re trippin’ down the silver skyway put your head on cruise control let your soul enjoy the silver skyway if you do it every week you might freak out on the silver skyway though it comes at quite a cost you’d be lost without the silver skyway And it casts you to the wind and absolves you of your sins and it shows you where you’ve been tomorrow There is no danger that your waveform will collapse as long as you are held securely by the straps so just relax yourself and maybe then perhaps you’ll see the light

I might as well be an automaton for the times I was absent and times I was gone finding brand new things to fixate upon thinking I might as well be an automaton and you’re wondering why I would tell such a lie so you give me the eye and I wish I could fly but you know I can’t fly though I’ll dream of the sky ‘til the day that I finally die I might as well be some kind of machine for the silences heard in the spaces between can’t take the tranquil and can’t make the scene thinking I might as well be some kind of machine

give me power, the most you can get and a million puppets and marionettes I’ll just point and tell them to destroy and not one of them is in my employ make or break me or just step aside all you great pretenders along for the ride there’s a deep disturbance deep down in my soul and that deep disturbance is spiraling out of control mad with power that I didn’t earn I’m just building fires to witness the burn I can’t build so I have to tear down and I’ll bring ruination to your hometown stripped of power and gone in disgrace I’m the joker’s punch line, the most hated face I’ll still point and tell them to destroy but I’ve got nobody in my employ

about

The Vertigo Swirl has returned (just in time for its 13th anniversary) with album number eight: Raining Serotonin in Quarantineland, a collection of auditory visions, paths to satori, and caustic observations of a world in flame. With Dan Stuvland now aboard full time on drums (and more), the core trio also back longtime friend and collaborator Drew Aldrich on a couple of songs he co-authored. BaM, Myk, Stuvy, and Drew invite you to bathe in their serotonin rain in the quarantineland of your choosing.
