Car Crash 02:17
you sent a letter to me to get the better of me and it cut like broken glass you sent a flower to me to prove your power to me and it smelled of burning gas you're no fun for anyone you're a car crash you sent a message to me to make a mess out of me and it landed like a slap you sent smoke signals to me to lure me out of my tree and it was a baited trap you're no fun for anyone you're a car crash
2.
there's no mashed potatoes, ain't no gravy on the plate ain't had a bite in days and still you make me wait there's no greasy chicken, ain't no cole slaw on the side just your cold shoulder leaving me unsatisfied hard to believe I've been looking forward to this all day I just got back from prison now honey, what you got to say there's no ice cream sundae with the cherry on the top before I get to start you're telling me to stop there's no milk and honey, ain't no sugar in my tea there's just no sweetness for a man as sour as me well, I'm hurtin' in the heart and hurtin' in the head sleep ain't a-comin' in this all too silent bed I don't need confetti or a hero's welcome home I just wish that you'd make me feel less alone
3.
maybe I'd feel a bit less lonely if I could see all my old cronies but not today 'cos I tried and I can't get away I'd feel less cold beneath the covers if I could see all my old lovers but not today 'cos I tried and I can't get away can't move forward, can't look back can't turn left or right no desires, no designs no relief in sight maybe I'd find life more appealing if I could get back that old feeling but not today 'cos I tried and I can't get away maybe I'd find life more exciting if I could spend less of it fighting but not today 'cos I tried and I can't get away can't move forward, can't look back can't turn left or right no desires, no designs no relief in sight maybe my life's mine for the taking I want the sleep that knows no waking but not today 'cos I tried and I can't get away

savagery, you don't know what it means to me you don't know what it means to be nice to me such savagery once again, you don't know how to be a friend and I suspect that you intend us to end such savagery falling down, I'm always falling down I'm always found on the floor crawling 'round, I'm always crawling 'round I'm always found wanting more savagery, you gave away the best for free but saved a lot of misery just for me such savagery savagery, you're going to be the death of me you'll always be the maitre d' of my ennui such savagery

When you spoke up I was surprised even though it was a long time in your eyes. Your campaign promised paradise made up of a thousand different pretty lies. Don’t know how you snuck up on me The ambushes are now routine Your love is nothing but guerrilla war. You never had to fire a shot, Annexed my anatomy by fiendish plot. You kept me drunk with all your talk, My head spun before it hit the chopping block. It’s always sneaking up on me The ambushes are now routine Your love is nothing but guerrilla war. Today you echoed through my mind again You can imagine my surprise To find that you’re a retroactive sin and that I wish you still were mine. I thought that I’d been purified, Counted days and months without you by my side. But still you occupy my mind and I’m caught again behind enemy lines. You’re always sneaking up on me The ambushes are now routine Your love is nothing but guerrilla war.

I used to be a specialist in inadvertent hurt subject to the passing whims of every passing skirt I'd eat my home-cooked dinner just to go out for dessert now I'm happy at home I used to get so restless that I'd have to disappear surface in some dive for conversation and a beer untroubled by the thought of leaving 'til last call was near now I'm happy at home

Saturday sunshine on the fresh cut grass Motorway madness on the overpass Driftin’ and dreamin’, half the way to stoned Saturday sunshine has been postponed I’ll be on top again, I’ll push the mop again In the sweet green meadowlands I’ll lead the pack again, right off the track again To the sweet green meadowlands Indistinct figures on a far plateau Maybe they’re human but I just don’t know Hoping to join them but I never will Indistinct figures on a distant hill Bring back those moments that were mine Bring back that Saturday sunshine Saturday sunshine from behind the glass Desperately waiting for the time to pass Nervously nodding ‘cos I’m way too stoned Saturday sunshine has been dethroned

there'll come a time, another time, baby there'll come another chance there'll be another rodeo maybe there'll be another dance but it feels like a long, long time yeah, it feels like a long, long time maybe you can't see maybe you can't hear maybe you can't breathe in my atmosphere there'll come a time, another time, baby there'll come another prayer there'll be another sacrament maybe there'll be a heaven there but it feels like a long, long time yeah, it feels like a long, long time maybe I can't hear maybe I can't see maybe I can't stand in your gravity but it feels like a long, long time yeah, it feels like a long, long time maybe I can't hear maybe I can't see maybe I can't stand in your gravity maybe you can't see maybe you can't hear maybe you can't breathe in my atmosphere

You’ve got everything you need, there's lots to go around, now. Bought your leisure, finally free from all that brought you down, now. Tell me the many ways You’ll never miss the days, you’re better off, You’re smiling through your scars. Every day’s a party scene, you’re bigger than you was, now. You can’t feel a goddamned thing, got novocain for blood now. Tell me the many ways You’ll never miss the days, you’re better off, You’ve come so very far. All your pretty ones are gone, they left you on the run, now. You don’t miss them anyway, and more will come along, now. You’ll never miss the days, Tell me the many ways you’re better off, A better man by far.

Judgment Day 02:55
you wind her up and turn her on she clatters into motion she will smile and carry on and you won't see the notion taking root behind her eyes while she plays at devotion now there's nothing more to say and it feels like judgement day there is nothing you can do she's already far from you she told you everything she's seen she said that she was broken she dreams evil things to say and she can't be awoken would it matter anyway with all she leaves unspoken now there's nothing more to say and it feels like judgement day there is nothing you can do she's already gone from you

I see you walkin’ down the street Your head is too big for your feet Your eyes are too big for your gut So you will never make the cut Suspicious Sue, standing in my doorway Suspicious Sue, standing at my door Suspicious Sue, can’tcha be on your way I’ve got better things to do I see you walkin’ down the road Your back is too weak for the load Your clothes are all so cheaply made So you will never make the grade I see you walkin’ down the lane Your mouth is too loud for my brain Your good points simply don’t exist So you will never make the list
13.
you’re quick to remember and hard to forget you're every last letter in my alphabet you're watching my movies and you're reading my books you’re giving me visions and you’re giving me looks and you, you turn the tables you, you turn to leave and you are gone you turn the tables you, you turn to me and turn me on you make it apparent that I’m but a child bewildered and baffled by life in the wild you drown out the voices and you cast out the gloom I’m safe in your presence and I’m safe in your room I love you forever, I love you right now I love you as often as time will allow I'm watching your movies and I'm reading your books you've got me on tiptoes and you've got me on hooks

about

Four years is, admittedly, a long time to piece together a 13 track, 45 minute album. But when I laid down the first of these tracks ("Back from Prison") in September of 2009, I had no grand scheme in mind - I was just casually laying down a bit of greasy rock 'n' roll that had no place in the Vertigo Swirl universe.

As the stockpile of songs grew larger, however, I started to take the idea of a sequel to Utopian Flying Machines more seriously. For some time I was taken by the idea of a double album entitled Nag Champa (the title track was an instrumental that I never got around to recording), but sanity prevailed in the end and a mountain of outtakes was tossed aside to produce a more tightly focused set.

So, dear listener, I am proud to present twelve new(ish) BaM compositions (four co-written with the talented lyricist who just happens to be my wife) and one Walt Winston cover, performed by meself and a couple of the usual suspects. Enjoy!
